Seokchan (Channy) Yun had a long history of web based technology and business especially web standards, open source, e-commerce and digital contents. from early world-wide web industry.
In Nine4u Inc, he developed Nine4u.com, the first korean music web casting service in 1998 and operated Asiamusic.net, the old largest music database from 1997 to 2004. (Both was ended in Dec.2005). It was connected e-commerce features, so he developed many e-commerce web sites.
After his software developing career, he made own business models and technical marketing as a CTO in Nine4u from 2000. He had opportunity to work with VeriSign and Thawte as a reselling partner.
In Daum in early 2004, he involved to make technical strategy as a staff of corporate R&D center and design career path and educational program for over 300 software engineers from 2004 to 2006.
For needs to communicate with 3rd party developer and companies by Web 2.0 phenomena, his job forwards to technical evangelism to manage Daum open API gateway and encourages Web 2.0 mashup applications in Daum Developers Network and Associates(http://dna.daum.net).
In 2009, he back to the school to study social semantic web in Ph.D course of Seoul National University.
He also has engaged open source "Mozilla" project since 2002 as a korean l10n module owner to make Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird Korean version and a leader of Korean community (http://www.mozilla.or.kr).
His second interest is web standards to improve web accessibility in Korea leading community (http://webstandards.or.kr). He is also WaSP ILG member and W3C HTML W/G invited expert.
His social activities has been active in Korean web technical community i.e. founding BarCampSeoul and FutureWeb Forum and Webappscon. It is that his insightful articles are impressed to many Korean IT geeks. Especially he has written for ZDNet Korea about various technical subjects on the web since 2004.
