I am Senior Interaction Architect at User-Centered Design, Inc. and a member of the KDE Human-Computer Interaction working group. I am an open source design advocate who works towards making FLOSS more “user friendly” by working with developers to create better software. I specialize in interface design, interaction design, and information architecture. I have experience in all phases of the system development life cycle, with a knack for helping the development and user research teams work together. I primarily focus on the user research and design phases, but I also have experience with user-based testing.
My industry experience includes work at the Federal government level, public and private sectors, and in open source software. I presented open source and usability topics at conferences such as aKademy, Information Architecture Summit, Southern California Linux Expo, local UPA events, and will present at the Usability Professionals Association Annual Conference this June. My recent research efforts include the Modified-Delphi card sorting methodology, visualization of public health information, and the usability of electronic voting.
I have a Master’s degree in Interaction Design and Information Architecture from the University of Baltimore and a Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia from Duquesne University. I am also a member of the American Society for Information Science & Technology, Association for Computing Machinery, Information Architecture Institute, K Desktop Environment e.V., OpenUsability e.V., and Usability Professionals Association.
