With Dr Silvia Vidal, as a summer student in 2004, and then a teaching assistant during the 2004-05 academic year. One of my main achievements was the elaboration and editing of a bioinformatics module (reference manual, teaching material and exercises) for the microbiology undergraduate laboratory course. I gave lectures and tutorials, and marked all papers. I also maintained the Vidal lab's five-workstation Windows-based network. After 2005, I continued to provide computer-related services to the lab.
With Dr Michael Hallett, as a web and database developer from 2004 to 2006 on a part-time basis. I helped develop a laboratory information management system in PHP/MySQL in 2004-05. In 2005-06, we ported the application to Java/Struts/Hibernate. The final work became the web interface module of the laboratory's bioinformatics platform "BIAS".
