My interests lie at the intersection of social media, corporate and government communications and public relations.
I successfully coordinated an agreement with Apple iTunes and Texas Tech University that resulted in the first large-scale New Media initiative at the university. I successfully developed several other social networking initiatives and strategies that continue to serve that organization.
In addition to my role as Apple iTunesU project manager, I worked closely with state and national media, successfully placing stories specializing in law, education, public policy, foreign affairs and business with CNN, USA Today, NBC News, CBS News and National Public Radio.
During my tenure at National Instruments, the world's leading virtual instrumentation software and hardware developer, I managed the corporate communications case studies initiative and developed print and electronic marketing strategies.
I currently serve the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Public Outreach and Strategies Division as the editor of Fiscal Notes, the state's monthly economic review publication. In 2008, the publication was awarded Best External Newsletter by the National Association of Government Communicators.
I am certified in crisis communications and public information operations by the National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center and the Texas Governor's Division of Emergency Management, an initiative that trains government communicators to serve in public relations and spokesperson roles to coordinate with local, state and national law enforcement and rescue agencies during large-scale disasters and emergencies.
