I DO NOT RESPOND TO RANDOM INVITES.
I have recently given presentations in Northern Virginia and DC along the lines of utilizing Open Source in Business, dotProject, Integrating Open Source Projects, and at the Better Software Conference (Managing Distributed Software Teams), DCPHP Conference 2006 (REST Web Services 101), BarCampDC (Mobile Web), ZendCon 2007 (The Bionic App), DCPHP Conference 2007 (Implementing REST Web Services). If you are interested in having me speak to your organization along these lines, please feel free to contact me My speaking schedule is normally booked 2-3 months in advance. Previous presentations are available here: http://caseysoftware.com/events/
For nearly 10 years, I have been doing extensive government contracting at the Department of Justice, Library of Congress, DC Department of Transportation and a few other agencies while employed by User Technology Associates (UTA, later purhcased by DigitalNet, later purchased by BAE Systems). I have speciailized in information sharing, transformation, and updating legacy systems in both classified and non-classified environments.
Currently, I have started my own software company and have been working to build my customer base through personal interactions and meeting my customer's needs better than my competition. Most of my customers come through referals from existing customers, personal connections on various forums (Joel on Software, Northern Virginia Linux Users' Group, DC Linux Users' Group, Northern Virginia Java Users' Group, and dotProject).
My core focus is developing and integrating Open Source Software, namely web2project and dotProject a web-based Project Management System. I am a member of the Core Development Group and currently serve as the self-appointed US representative for working with users to evaluate their needs and have the requirements met. As a result, I am building close connections with large swaths of the Open Source Community and working to build alliances with certain OSS projects.
