I update my Active Rain profile more often and put up a blog entry there every once in a while too. Once you've read my amazing summary here, go to http://activerain.com/baltimoresun for the good stuff.
The first thing I did out of college was get a job. The second thing I did once I had four paycheck stubs in hand was to buy my first home. Since then I have been learning as much as possible about real estate and online marketing. I became an inactive real estate agent through Long and Foster. Soon, I will either be selling my first home or renting it out and taking the next step up the property ladder.
I started out at Ritz Camera's in-house marketing department doing radio, tv, and print buying. Then I went to TBC in Fells Pt to be an interactive media planner. It was a tough decision to move on from there after only a few short months, but I came across a great opportunity with the Baltimore Sun. My new position allows me to be involved in online media and real estate. More and more of the home buying process is moving online, so I see this as a huge growth opportunity for the Sun, for myself, and for the agents and brokers we work with.
Coming to the sales side after years as a media buyer give me a unique perspective. I know how much I hated some sales reps and how much I appreciated the good ones. Aside from that, I really know the field of online advertising and how it can help agents, brokers, homebuilders, and developers across MD.

This job is a great combination of real estate, interactive media, and networking. I am a web sales specialist for the BaltimoreSun.com real estate section. This involves selling banner ads on the real estate section and all across the site. I also am trying to get local real estate agents to list their houses on our site. I am an inactive agent myself, so I am very happy that I can help agents with their marketing efforts. And from what I have seen so far, our products are a cheap way to get listings in front of a large unique audience, and they really get results.
