Manager of Membership & Events
Skilled conference and trade show producer, specializing in logistics, registration, data collection, budgeting and cash flow, and print materials. My favorite place to be is on the show floor during set up!
In this seven-person nonprofit, I manage the membership program and produce events, including the Annual New Jersey Charter Schools Conference (800+ attendees; 90+ exhibitors and growing every year), professional development workshops and other smaller events. Responsible for setting up the registration interface, developing exhibitor packages & badge price points, overseeing all event suppliers & consultants, editing the print program, logistics, signage, student performances, you name it, I probably have a hand in it. Also manage the overall budget for the entire event, with profitability.
As a member of the Executive Board (a three-year appointment), I originally held the position of Chapter Chaplin, then was appointed to be Second Vice Regent, responsible for producing the chapter's monthly meetings and annual banquets, and also booking guest speakers.
As a member of the all-volunteer steering committee for the annual New Year's Eve festival in Newtown, Bucks County, PA, I was primarily responsible for developing and producing the KidsFest portion of the event ("everything that happens in the gym"). Also provided valuable guidance to the team on the planning and execution of other aspects of the evening's festivities, as well as those leading up to it (i.e., appearances at street fairs to generate interest).
I opened an LLC to produce annual trade shows for clients in the Delaware Valley / Mid-Atlantic region. I specialized in venue site selection, budgeting, logistics, signage and decorations, while the client maintained control over invitations (for exhibitors, attendees and speakers) and seminar content.
Worked at Jack Morton in Robbinsville, NJ (formerly known as Denby Exhibits a few years before I was hired), a fabricator of massive exhibit booths, mobile experiences (via tractor trailers) and high-end event decorations. I was part of a team that pulled together a major launch event in New York City's financial district for the Wall Street Journal's Weekend Edition. Unfortunately, I was laid off with four other employees when two major contracts fell through.
MMS (also known as Media Management Services) is an educational marketing company. I worked on several accounts, including Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association School Marketing Group, Action for Healty Kids, MCI Foundation's "MarcoPolo" (now known as Verizon Foundation's Thinkfinity), Verizon Reads, the FORTUNE Education Program and other, smaller programs.
This is the only statewide annual professional development conference for the entire New Jersey charter school community. It includes a trade show, professional development breakout sessions, national keynote speakers, student performances, networking events and the annual Cultivating Quality Education awards program. My team of smart, fun and hard-working colleagues have produced this profitable event for NJCSA since the first event in 2009 at the Trenton Marriott Downtown. It's held every spring, and grows every year, and we've finally transferred the event to Atlantic City.
