I'm a Graphic Designer with 30 years of experience in print media including art direction, catalog design, direct mail design, and logo design. Direct response design is my primary expertise -I like the satisfaction of achieving measurable results. I design direct mail, brochures, catalogs and direct response ads for business-to-business, business-to-consumer, and fund-raising campaigns. I'm always interested in environmentally conscious projects and companies.
I have experience in Transportation Demand Management, ie. marketing behavior change by creating incentives and overcoming barriers in order to reduce single occupancy vehicle trips.
I also have an extensive background in magazine promotion and have designed winning direct mail packages for clients such as American Girl, Arthritis Today, Daughters, Procirc, Scientific American, WeightWatchers and Lapham's Quarterly. See samples of my work at www.scherpelz.com

I like to be active outdoors or cozy indoors reading a book. Outdoors I walk, swim, rollerblade, cross-country ski and bike. Indoors-and outdoors-I create Second Chance Mosaics made from cracked and broken plates bound for the trash. I'm from Chicago and have lived in the beautiful city of Madison, Wisconsin since 1978. Currently I live and work in downtown Madison. I enjoy leaving my car parked in the garage since I can get where I need to go on foot or by bike in most cases. It's more fun that way and better for our city's environment.
