I would like a full-time or part-time position as writer/editor/administrator in the arts or health care. I have worked as a writer and editor for financial news and music journals, including many years of online publishing experience. I would ideally like a position that works for change in the community and can better the lives of individuals.
Recently, my detailed analysis of John Lennon's "Revolution 9" was published by Perspectives of New Music; I was elected to serve as judge in the Monmouth County Symphony Orchestra's Young Artist Concerto Competition; I have been invited to give composition seminars at Goucher College and Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts; I am completing a CD-length set of pop-music-styled songs to be released later this spring; I have recorded a set of my own piano pieces to be released as a CD (titled "Slow"); my drum set solo "Jungle 5-7675" was premiered at a faculty composers' concert by TCNJ by Peter Jarvis, director of the New Jersey Percussion Ensemble; the complete set of three songs for guitar and voice on poems by John Falk is scheduled to premiered this fall at Goucher in Baltimore, and the "Mermaid" Fantasy, adpated from the first of those songs, is set to be premiered in Philadelphia in April.
I earned a Ph.D. in Music from Rutgers University and have roughly 18 years experience as a university and private high school classroom instructor and 20 years experience as a professional journalist in the arts, general news and finance. My articles have appeared in scholarly journals (The Perspectives of New Music) as well as papers and websites including the Asbury Park Press, the Times of Trenton, the Newark Star-Ledger, New Music Connoisseur and TheStreet.com.
I am also the founder, administrator and webmaster for the Music of Invention experimental music series for the Black Box of Asbury Park, co-founder of the Trenton Avant Garde, Inc. and founder and sole administrator of TAG's George Antheil Project.
