Trial lawyer handling business & real estate disputes, including eminent domain, in Southwest Florida
Fort Myers, Florida Area
I help people and their companies resolve business disputes, including shareholder/partner disputes, breach-of-contract claims, and fraud claims. Much of my practice involves real estate disputes, including eminent domain and condemnation matters. In my eminent domain practice, I have obtained orders of taking in contested hearings. Over the years, work on my clients' cases has involved trials, numerous depositions, significant motion practice, and appellate work.
I speak and write regularly about a variety of legal issues. As a speaker, I have taught other attorneys at continuing education seminars (about eminent domain and other topics) and college students as a guest lecturer at Florida Gulf Coast University. As a writer, my biggest audience is made up of members of The Florida Bar. Over the years, I have written three articles for publication in The Florida Bar Journal. In May 2009, The Florida Bar Journal published "Eminent Domain: Identifying Issues in Damages for the General Practitioner" (May 2009, Vol. 83, No. 5). The Florida Supreme Court cited the article in a 2009 opinion about busines damages in eminent domain cases. In 2006, The Florida Bar Journal published "How to Obtain an Order of Taking" (October 2006, Vol. 80, No. 8), an article about how property interests are acquired in eminent domain cases. In 2003, The Florida Bar Journal published "The Pen is Mightier Than the Sword or Why the Media Should Exercise Self-Restraint in Time of War" (January 2003, Vol. LXXVII, No. 1). The Thomson Gale publishing company printed an excerpt of the article in "Opposing Viewpoints: Censorship," an anthology designed for young adults, in 2005.
An important component to my professional experience is my service to The Florida Bar. Currently, I serve as a member of the Eminent Domain Committee and as a member of a local grievance committee.

Since being admitted to The Florida Bar in September 1997, I have helped people and companies with business disputes in Southwest Florida (Charlotte County, Collier County, Hendry County, and Lee County) and in other parts of the state (Broward County, Hillsborough County, Miami-Dade County, Orange County, Palm Beach County, Pinellas County, and Sarasota County). I practice out of our Fort Myers office and assist clients in all aspects of trial level litigation, whether in a lawsuit or an arbitration. Many of my cases involve real property and eminent domain.
