Since I began, I found out that the Industry around me was constantly aflame. Someone was always coming in, saying something that jerked a reaction out of the fans and that was their buzz. That's what lit them up and made their opinions worthwhile.
However, I don't think I ever catered to that. I think my sole purpose was to provide a sounding board for the realists. I wanted people to react to me as if I was their long-time friend and we had common interests to talk about. I think, personally, the best kind of writer is a writer you can relate to. The kind where, if you met them, you could share a beer and go on for days about why Altered Beast was a revolutionary title.
I want to be just that, I want to be the person that my readers can see as a peer. Not as some larger-than-life G4 TV teleprompter reader, but someone who has their finger on the pulse because it was born there.
So, that, in essence, is what I strive to be. Daily. Twenty-four-seven, three-sixty-five.
I seem to have a knack for speaking with PR people, as I took on that role with Advanced Media Network for quite awhile before moving to TEK.

Coming off of TEK, Candice wanted an avenue to display her opinions and product reviews without having to depend on a staff of likeminded writers. Kombo, an off-shoot of Advanced Media Network, gave her the forum and venue she needed to showcase her reviews easily and without consequence. She can still be seen there, aiding on E3 write-ups, doing opinion and editorial pieces and reviewing the products companies send her.

November 2006 — September 2007 (11 months)
TEK started as a solution to the Advanced Media Network's gadget channel. Headed by Candice Shane, an outgoing voice whose "Like Talking To Your Friends" blogging style made the site infectious with charm. With imagery, photoshopped jokes along with news clips and scathing reviews of products; TEK had it all. However, due to low-staff quota (Couldn't get them to copy the format.), Candice had to call it quits right before their year mark. She's still shopping around for ideas to bring back the format of TEK in other venues.

July 2005 — May 2006 (11 months)
As a Senior Editor at Got-Next, Candice worked with Chris Scantleberry on adding a bit of flavor and a voice to their lineup of opinionated-yet-edgeless writers. Candice worked closely with the team to seemingly edge out a path of opinion pieces and passionate reviews of the videogame titles she loved best. This also gave her an opportunity to cut her teeth on PR, getting the chance to work side-by-side with the gaming companies she'd be writing about.

Seeking time to work on a book with a popular publisher, Candice left AVCC before the beginning of the following semester.
