With 10 years of experience in the Brazilian Book Market as assistant-editor, editor and freelancer translator now I'm working at a Dutch Academic Publishing house and gaining experience in a new publishing field (others are educational, literature and trade publishing).

In my last position in Brazil I was in a managing position and I worked in the Brazilian office of Larousse. My background experience includes text and schoolbooks, literature, trade publishing and reference books, like dictionaries and encyclopedias. At Larousse I also dealt with XML-based projects.

I'm also a hard user of internet tools and learn (and enjoy) easily how to deal with new technologies and use them in my daily life. On the other hand, bookbinding is my hobby and I'm very interested in the book in a more traditional way.

I defended my thesis on the flow of literary translations from Brazil to abroad at the University of Leiden in January 2009 (see the link at Additional Information below).

I'm a Brazilian Portuguese native speaker. I'm fluent in English and have a good level of German. I have a medium knowledge of French (enough to have some conversation and to read and listen fairly well). I also have a good passive knowledge of Dutch.

Some of the projects were XML based, like the bilingual dictionaries and the Brazilian Edition of the Petit Larousse, and some had digital outputs (website and/or CD-rom) in addition to the printed ones.
