I manage ScarletStorm, a long/short equity fund. I use a multi-strategy approach that involves investment in varied asset classes including deep-value equities, growth equities in my area of analytical expertise, and emerging-market equities. As of September 2008, assets under management is about $40 million. I buy independent research as well as conduct much of my own. My area of expertise as an analyst is wireless handset makers and consumer electronics. By using a proprietary approach to valuation coupled with superior knowledge of both the marketplace and future product-pipelines of electronics makers, I seek out valuation disparities and take out positions to capture gains from their eventual movement. My valuation-heavy analytical research is complemented by a proprietary exposure-management framework that dynamically adjusts my portfolio's net exposure (between net-long, market neutral, and net short) and degree of leverage based on market conditions.

Myself and a colleague (who works for a large Fund of Hedge Funds) guided students to making strong picks for their real-money portfolio, the proceeds of which benefit their academic club. We introduced them to asset management strategies and tools that would help their portfolio outperform (value investment, growth investment, event-based investment, fundamental analysis, dividend-yield analysis, et cetera).

During my internship, I assisted English-speaking and Spanish-speaking clients in allocating their money in the right asset classes to meet their individual investment goals and best match their investment horizons. I helped advise on FranceTelecom's buyout of Spanish mobile operator Amena, doing due-diligence on their wireless assets, confirming their network's capabilities, and valuing their infrastructure.
