Jeremy joined The Focal Point after graduate study at UC Berkeley where he also competed with its Squash and national champion Crew teams. Jeremy holds a BA Hons (1st Class) in Art History and Theory and a BS in Medical Physiology from the University of Otago in New Zealand. He has also spent extended periods living and working in Europe.
Jeremy has managed trial strategy development and graphic production for many complex litigations including the dismissal of a $700 million claim against Genentech, an asbestos insurance trial that yielded a settlement in excess of $1 billion, a construction-related insurance bad faith case with a $383 million verdict, and a recent securities fraud class action in which Motorola agreed to a $190 million settlement payment right before trial. Jeremy also assisted with the successful criminal prosecution in the 2001 San Francisco "dog mauling" trial and worked on the highly publicized settlement payment of $440 million by Microsoft to InterTrust Technologies after a preliminary Markman Hearing.
Jeremy has worked with the Securities and Exchange Commission on more than 20 cases. In 2006, Jeremy led The Focal Point’s six-month collaboration with the SEC which resulted in Waste Management’s former chief financial officer, James Koenig, being found liable on all 60 counts of having falsified company accounts in a $1.7 billion accounting fraud that remains one of the largest in US corporate history. In 2008, Jeremy worked closely with a team from the US Dept. of Justice and the FBI to achieve three felony counts of conspiracy and mail-fraud against a former state senate majority leader. Outside of work, Jeremy enjoys traveling and has served as President of the Berkeley Men's Rugby Club since 2005.
