Cailin Casey's Summary
I have dedicated my life to preserving the legacies of American veterans of war. I have a passion for preserving the histories of ordinary men who answered the call of their country and did extraordinary things. I believe that my generation and those to come have much to learn from the Greatest Generation. I have made it my personal responsibility to preserve these stories that would otherwise die with these veterans, who are now reaching the twilight of their lives. Our time left with veterans of WWII is dwindling, and I plan to preserve as many personal legacies as I can, so that they may live on long after the veterans have passed on.
Cailin Casey's Experience
I preserve in writing the legacies of veterans of WWII
June 2011 – Present (3 years 4 months)
In June 2011 I was one of eighteen students chosen at College of the Ozarks to accompany six veterans of WWII back to their battle sites in France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. When I returned home, I spent the summer compiling the incredible stories of these six veterans into a short book titled "Twice as Brave: a Collection of the True Stories of Six Veterans of WWII" This book was published by College of the Ozarks, and I designated that all proceeds benefit the Patriotic Education Travel Program, which makes trips like the one I had in 2011 possible and at no cost to the veteran or student participant. In May 2012, College of the Ozarks held a book signing for my first book. Two weeks after my graduation, I moved to Exeter, New Hampshire, where I had been invited by a veteran from the trip, John Primerano of the 101st Airborne, to write a book about his WWII experience. "Down to the Wire: the Experiences of WWII Screaming Eagle, John Primerano and stories along those lines," was completed in September 2012, and will be published by College of the Ozarks in Spring 2013. After finishing John Primerano's book in September I moved to Cape Cod, MA to write a book for WWII veteran of the Army AF Louis Rabesa Jr, which is now near completion.

Last spring, Casey and 16 other College of the Ozarks students accompanied six WWII Veterans to battle sites in Europe as part of the College’s Patriotic Education Travel Program, which is designed so that students learn about history and sacrifice from the men and women who lived it. During the trip she became inspired, so much, that upon her return, she wrote a short book about stories the Veterans shared with her.
"The book, Twice as Brave, is a collection of the true stories of six WWII Veterans, Andy Anderson (5th Engineers Special Brigade), Bill Kamsler (102nd Infantry Division), Ned Knapp (75th Infantry Division), John Primerano (101st Airborne), Lou Rabesa (Army Air Force), and Bryan Sperry (75th Infantry Division)."
