While my background is in field research, the majority of my current effort is focused on developing media and web content for the Census of Marine Life, a 10-year international initiative to assess life in the global ocean. The first Census, which involves the work of scientists in 83 nations, will be released in October 2010.
In addition to my Census work, I co-teach an annual summer institute in coastal ecology and lead field classes throughout the year. Prior to accepting my position at URI, I spent several years working in applied fisheries and aquaculture research for state agencies in Virginia and Georgia and served as an AmeriCorps Volunteer in South Carolina.
