Founded MarketOutsider.com with one other business partner. MarketOutsider is a company dedicated to extracting actionable, meaningful data hidden inside plain text published to the Internet. We've built a number of proprietary algorithms to extract this information and make thousands of distinct articles something a person can consume in seconds -- whether they are looking for trends throughout the entire set, or just a relevant piece of information.
We're using this data to create a new generation of search and research tools with a focus in the financial sector.

The Search and Content is the core Search Technology team at Whitepages.com, INC, a leader in the online people-search industry. My responsibilities as a member of that team include maintaining and extending the search engine and database storage system that drives the entire company. The engine is comprised of tens of thousands of lines of advanced Object-Oriented Perl, and uses a variety of database engines for content storage and delivery.

The SCHARP organization at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center focuses on HIV/AIDS prevention trials. I was in a core position supporting the statisticians and other programmers in the group by developing and maintaining tools and databases for them. My main project was a safety reporting system that effectively did real-time monitoring of thousands of trial participants for safety in a variety of parameters. This was a highly critical system, written in Object-Oriented Perl, heavily relying on a PostgreSQL database with numerous stored procedures. I designed and built the system from the ground-up. I eventually presented a piece of this work at the DataFax Users Group conference in 2006.
Additionally I was involved in a variety of other key projects in the group, and was frequently involved in working with industry standards such as MedDRA, CDISC, and other controlled vocabulary systems.

Worked with a partner to create an automated play-testing system for the collectible game Zypods. We created a web-based system that would pit various AI opponents against each other with different components and store batch history in a MySQL database. I was primarily responsible for the AI and statistics engines, written in Object-Oriented Perl.

The Heimfeld Research Lab at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center focuses on supplying hematapoietic stem cells to researchers nationwide. This enabled me to become very knowledgeable in various immunology procedures such as Flow Cytometry and Magnetic Cell Separation. We were one of, if not the highest throughput lab for cell separation in the Nation, and thus became experts at it.
As the position progressed, I was able to apply more of my programming skills to the lab to build tools to enable us to more efficiently serve our purpose. These included Perl systems to aid in analysis and cataloging of flow cytometry specimens, databases to store the information to provide to other researchers, and machine interfaces to automatically download and parse information from blood analyzers.
