Business Multimedia Strategist at Sun Microsystems
San Francisco Bay Area
When I joined the Media Strategy and Production Group as an MBA Intern, I was tasked with compiling a multimedia best practices report and competitive analysis for Sun management. The analysis was well received, and the report was used as a resource in the development of the latest iteration of Sun’s video marketing strategy, ChannelSun (channelsun.sun.com).
Once hired, I managed the launch and ongoing evolution of ChannelSun, which combines web 2.0 video functionality with rich analytics integration. A year later, ChannelSun now averages more monthly views than the Washington Post and Wired Magazine. I also developed a new direction for measuring video effectiveness. When I began the process, the metrics program was simply “success = video views.” Based on new information from our reporting/analytics tool (Omniture) and a lot of industry research, I was able to show that video success is a function of customer engagement, behavior, call-to-action conversion, and syndication. The new multimedia metrics program is responsible for strategic changes in the direction of our video and interactives content, as well as new features like the popup call-to-action, and integration with a lead generation program on Sun.com.
My natural ability to foster relationships combined with career advice from my mentor in graduate school resulted in my transition from IT to sales in 2006. My technical and operational background allowed me to easily “speak the language” in any department, often with C-level executives.
I am most interested in strategic marketing where I can apply my program management, research, and analysis skills. I am confident my successes with ChannelSun and multimedia analytics will translate to other marketing opportunities.
