In 1997 there were no SEO's in Australia, in fact, the term search engine optimisation and its industry acronym, SEO, had not even arrived in our language. The term most commonly used was Web Promotion. This was the one of the first phrases I optimised my web site for, targeting top rankings in the USA in both Altavista and Infoseek back in November 1997. On December 31, I partnered with my first web design agency in New York, which subsequently led to more than 150 sites over the next 3 years.
Meanwhile back home, Australian web designers simply avoided the issue when asked by clients how they could improve their rankings, because it was not considered to be a 'professional' or 'value-add' service. This went on for years, even after the dawn of Google, until clients began to leave agencies in the droves and contract one of the few private SEO companies available at that time, to enable their web investment to finally pay dividends.
The roll-on effect has seen countless web design companies hang up an SEO shingle in a vain effort to retain clients and attract new ones.
In the past 11 years we've consulted to both the Australian Federal Government and the Victorian State Govt, providing training seminars and advice on many sites. Our efforts were well rewarded when we became the Approved Supplier for SEO. In the same period, we've also helped countless small businesses become success stories in Australia, the US and the UK.
Some of these clients have forged web partnerships with us which have proved to be profitable for both parties. More recently it led to much lower overheads by clearing our debt-base which flowed onto cheaper pricing of all of our services.
From July 1, 2008, our pricing reduces by 11% across the board, which is an amazing achievement, at a time when most anything is increasing in price/cost.
Our focus is primarily on the organic search results because thats where the majority of customers are found. We prefer to train our customers on how to run/manage their own PPC campaigns, so they maximise their ROI. This means that even clients with small budgets can still afford to advertise their site because the agency commission fee is not consuming a large portion of their advertising budget. Many of our new customers are referrals which speaks highly of our past or current efforts.
