My background:
I have over 30 years of marketing experience as a writer, consultant, college instructor, and business owner.
For three years I had the pleasure of being the Director of Marketing for the Regions first and largest Internet Service Provider (ISP). Here I was able to help the business grow as well as increase awareness of the company in new market areas.
I write a monthly article for ISP Planet on marketing and business topics, and of course on my blog and in my newsletter.
For six years I was an instructor at a private college where I taught a variety of business and marketing courses.
Before becoming a consultant I owned an advertising agency for ten years where I was able to help a large number of businesses with their advertising needs. My business grew by 100% each of the first two years, and at least 50% for all subsequent years.
ISPCon, the ISP industry trade show, has had me present a number of seminars on marketing; subjects have included: “Guerilla Marketing”, “Selling for the Non-Salesperson”, and “Marketing 101″. In addition, I have given seminars to local businesses on Exhibiting at Trade Shows, Marketing, and Sales.
And now, for the past few years, have been a consultant to technology companies as well asmore tradtional businesses.
Marketing encompasses a variety of activities such as advertising in traditional media, (radio, television, newspaper, magazine), direct mail, telemarketing, selling, billboard advertising, public relations, trade shows, and much more.
Anything that communicates your business image and/or message is marketing.
