Solicitor and Notary Public. Founder of Inksters Solicitors (Glasgow, Inverness, Wick & Portree). Partner in OfficeLodge.
Specialties: Property Law, Servitudes (acted for the successful party in the House of Lords case Moncrieff -v- Jamieson) and Crofting Law.
Professional interest: Technology, Social Media and Web 2.0 in relation to running a law firm.
I am the founder of Inksters Solicitors. I have managed the firm's growth to a well established and known 'Forward Thinking Law' practice with offices in Glasgow, Inverness, Wick and Portree. Inksters also has a visiting base for solicitors in Lerwick.
I obtained the distinction of being named Solicitor of the Year at the Law Awards of Scotland in 2006 and Managing Partner of the Year at the Law Awards of Scotland 2014.
I concentrate on property related work and have a special interest in Crofting Law being the Hon Secretary of the Crofting Law Group, a member of the Crofting Group of Scottish Land and Estates, a member of the Cross Party Group on Crofting at the Scottish Parliament, a member of the Scottish Government Crofting Stakeholders Forum, a member of the Crofting Legislation Stakeholders Consultation Group and a member of the Crofting Register Stakeholders Forum. I am a regular contributor at Crofting Law Conferences and blog on crofting law at www.croftinglawblog.com. I also have a special interest in the law of servitudes (I acted for the pursuers in the House of Lords case of Moncrieff v Jamieson) and have lectured on that subject at the University of Strathclyde.
I take an active interest in technology, social media and Web 2.0 in relation to running a law firm. Inksters were the first law firm in Scotland to Tweet and to have a dedicated YouTube channel and the first in the UK to pin at Pinterest. I am often asked to provide presentations or comment on such matters. I am a member of the Communications Group of the Law Society of Scotland and a Tutor on Business Ethics, Finance and Practice Awareness in the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow. I blog on the past, present and future practice of law at 'The Time Blawg'.

"The winner of this year’s award has built their practice through a strategy that involves brand awareness, use of information technology, niche practice areas and taking the law to rural parts of Scotland.”
“This was a tough category for the judges due to the number of high quality submissions. But the winner surprised even them, by making a highly successful practice in a very niche area. Mixing good old traditional values with an innovative approach to delivering legal services our winner has been rewarded for making the most of his opportunities and creating a very successful practice.”
