May 1999 – Present (12 years 10 months) Glasgow & Inverness, United Kingdom
I am the founder of Inksters Solicitors. I have managed the firm's growth to an established law practice well known for being 'Just that little bit different'.
I obtained the distinction of being named Solicitor of the Year at the Law Awards of Scotland in 2006.
I concentrate on property related work and have a special interest in Crofting Law being the Hon Secretary of the Crofting Law Group and a regular contributor at Crofting Law Conferences. I also have a special interest in the law of servitudes (I acted for the pursuers in the House of Lords case of Moncrieff v Jamieson) and lecture on that subject at the University of Strathclyde.
I take an active interest in technology, social media and Web 2.0 in relation to running a law firm. Inksters were the first law firm in Scotland to Tweet and to have a dedicated YouTube channel. I am often asked to provide presentations or comment on such matters. I am a member of the Communications Group of the Law Society of Scotland and a Tutor on Business Ethics, Finance and Practice Awareness in the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow.
My wife, Nicola Walls, and I took part in the Habitat for Humanity Global Village Challenge in Argentina in November 2009 raising funds for Habitat for Humanity.
