Designed and implemented a UI framework (.Net WinForms) for an ERP product. I documented the framework, including tutorials, to allow other developers (both internal and external) to work with the framework. Trained and served as technical lead for a team of developers (5 in Kirkland, 10 in India) to implement forms using this framework.
Other projects I worked on include:
• Presented sessions at the last two user conferences for our company.
• Created an interdisciplinary team (management, development, test) to review forms for usability.
• Improved our build process by automating it and running it on a daily basis and created a process for promoting builds for different types of use (development, test, production).
• Advocate of automated unit tests (we used NUnit)
• Converted a number of forms for our product including the forms for sales order, quote, shipment, engineering change order, and more.
• Created a B-to-B web-based application that integrates with our product.

Helped develop a web-based interface using C# and ASP.NET that allows Great Plains users the ability to sell products on eBay and uBid. The application used a SOAP interface to communicate with the third-party marketplaces (eBay and uBid).

FreeRein’s goal was to create a platform for mobile devices, including Palm OS, Windows CE, and other systems. During my time there I researched products for mobile devices, wrote white papers for data synchronization and data access, designed an API for synchronization (including developing a prototype for it), and worked on a message notification service (something like MSMQ).
Due to the nature of the work, I used many different technologies while at FreeRein, including C/C++, Win 32, ATL COM, eVB, and many others. I worked on both Palm OS and Win CE (Pocket PC) devices as well as using several third-party mobile platforms.

Jacknabbit.com developed a sophisticated online, real-time scheduling application that allows service providers, such as doctors and hair stylists, to maintain their schedules online and allow their clients to make appointments with them over the Internet.
This is a three-tier ASP application that uses VB dll’s to access a SQL Server 2000 database. I worked on the user interface and business logic (which we called the conflict engine) of the product.

Developed web-based applications using ASP, JSP (Java), SQL Server, and other web-based technologies. My projects include a college preparation application written in Java using JSP, a real-estate application written in ASP, and a large-scale database application written in ASP and VB 6.
On all of these projects I worked on both the server-side and client-side code using VBScript, VB 6, Java, JavaScript, HTML, T-SQL, and other web-based technologies.
Certificate (not completed) , User-Centered Design , 2007 — 2008
Completed two quarters of a three quarter certificate program. The courses I completed are Usability Testing and User-Centered Design Processes.
Description of the certificate program:
To succeed in their communication activities, progressive organizations often employ sophisticated planning and development methods, including user-centered design and evaluation, usability testing, and systems-based analyses. The User-Centered Design Certificate Program, a sub-set of the well-known Department of Technical Communication's M.S. degree program, equips students to use these sophisticated methods. Students take coursework in usability testing and user-centered design processes, and complete the four-course program in as few as three quarters. With the exception of the seminar, each class meets one evening per week on the UW campus in Seattle. The seminar is offered on the web via streaming video.

I love software development and I spend much of my personal time learning new technologies and trying new development techniques. If you are interested in seeing some of my work, you can visit the downloads section of my website. Most of the projects are built using C#. I've also helped build the website for the Gleneagle homeowners association (I'm a board member for the community). The website is based on Community Server, but I've added a number of enhancements to it in order to make it usable for a more technically limited community (there are over 1000 homes in Gleneagle so we have a large diversity of computer savviness).
