Naked Communications Director
Sydney Area, Australia
After a brief stint in big five consulting (Andersen Consulting, now Accenture), I moved into what was then the 'emerging' field of digital media. Since '95, I have worked on a wide range of projects within a number of different companies - ranging from one- and two-person startups to large agencies.
Over the years I have moved from being a technical expert to more general positions, broadening out to generalist strategic an creative roles. This has been complemented by further tertiary study in public communications and cultural studies.
Generalism ;)

Unlike many of our competitors, Naked have decided to embrace digital by infusing digital expertise throughout the organisation rather than starting up a 'digital' group. My role, as one of the four digital specialists, is to 'dial up digital' within the communication strategy part of the business.

PhD , New Media , 2004 — 2006
Unfortunately, my doctorate is currently 'on hiatus', due to professional commitments. My thesis explores modes of interdisciplinary investigation, focussing on the impact that digital media has on our experience of selfhood. Until my untimely departure, I was supervised by the superb Gillian Fuller, and I hope one day (in the not too distant future) to return to the fray.
MA , Public Communication , 2003 — 2004
Completed while working at Beyond Interactive, this study provided some much needed theoretical breadth outside of the technical.
