Cultural Literacy is my goal as I Write/Speak/Blog or answer Media questions about the Amish. I break Amish mythinformation when I speak about this misunderstood culture, with emphasis on the Swartzentruber Order.
My husband and I open our hearts and home to Amish runaways, helping in their transition to the "forbidden" English life. Our son-in-law grew up & left Swartzentruber Amish. We're English "parents" to two sons from Swartzentruber Amish - Mosie and Monroe. I'm blessed to be friends with many others who've gone BEYOND BUGGIES & BONNETS, and I've learned intimate details about the life they left.
More than 118K readers worldwide come to my BEYOND BUGGIES & BONNETS blog for rare, true stories and authentic facts.
So far, my contribution to the literary world includes my award-winning THE BIRTH TO FIVE BOOK, A SCRAPBOOK OF CHRISTMAS FIRSTS, and 32 other titles I've contributed to such as seven CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL books.
In 2014-2015, parents will enjoy spiritual guidance through a curriculum I was contracted to write for the Nazarene Publishing House.

This book is the perfect holiday gift for that very special someone on your list, a gift they will treasure for a lifetime." --Dahlynn McKowen, Co-author Chicken Soup for the Soul series
Tasty recipes await, historical fun facts educate, and a listing of "favorites" help the reader get acquainted with each of us authors. Although I'm one of six writers on this book, I'm sincerely amazed at its beauty and quality! The shiny silver snowflakes on the midnight blue background of this hardcover book and full color pages inside give it the look and feel of a high-quality Hallmark treasure. One reader emailed me that this book took her breath away.
For a heart-moving short read, try my "Dad's First Diploma," p. 153. Tuck some tissues in your sleeve as you read this Perfect Holiday book!
