Brad Davis’s Summary

I have 8 years of design engineering experience covering RF Design in the wireless industry (GPS, 802.11, WiMax), test automation for wireless products, research and development on 17 GHz radio-over-fiber systems, and systems integration for data logging and control applications. I enjoy taking on challenging problems that improve peoples lives. Especially if this can be done through the application of technology but also by building great relationships with, and supporting, the people around me.

Brad Davis’s Specialties:

RF circuit design, system level design, ATE development, test equipment operation. Team leadership, organization, and motivation. Software Development in LabVIEW, Visual Basic, and C. Schematic and PCB capture.

    May 2004October 2008 (4 years 6 months)

Designed, prototyped and tested RF circuits and systems as Team Member, Team Lead, and Sole Contributor. Completed system gain plans, frequency plans, EM, Linear, and Time Domain simulations. Created internal automated test environment (ATE). Oversaw work of Contractors, Junior designers and Technicians.

    • Reduced board area 26%, and power consumption by 17% from customer requirements with design of low power multiband global navigation receiver chain from RF input to high speed ADC’s.
    • Completed 15% early and on budget a rush VHF to UHF radio conversion.
    • Led team in testing of TX and RX tests on 802.11b/g radios.
    • Fully automated the Tx/Rx testing of GSM/EDGE radio reference design to ETSI/FCC.
    • Took initiate to implement a version control and change tracking system that improved project documentation, and team co-ordination/efficiency.

  • Board Chairperson (Volunteer)

    Oak Park Church of Christ

    (Civic & Social Organization industry)

    June 2006May 2008 (2 years)

Chaired the board through a period of restructure. Coordinated committee work, championed time line, and communicated work to membership. Monitored $320,000 budget and Sr. Staff.

    • Managed, motivated, and co-ordinated 3 committees responsible for bylaws rewrite, position redefinition, and policy rewrite.
    • Energized meeting culture by focusing on outcomes and shortening meeting lengths.

  • Systems Integrator

    Advanced Measurements Inc

    (Privately Held; Industrial Automation industry)

    June 2002May 2004 (2 years)

Designed and programmed embedded LabVIEW data acquisition and control systems in a variety of fields; oil well servicing, diamond mining, theatrical state control, fuel cells.

    • Exceeded the expectations for junior position and was given Intermediate Systems Integrator responsibilities in the first year of employment.

  • Masters Candidate

    TRLabs

    (Non-Profit; Telecommunications industry)

    20002002 (2 years)

Researched system deployment issues for a non-linear, 17GHz, radio-over-fiber broadband distribution system.

    • Improved BER 10X on a harmonically up-converting pre-distortion algorithm.
    • Planned and built a software based bit-error-rate tester in C.
    • Conceived and implemented a multi-carrier inter-modulation test setup.
    • Designed novel dual-band, self-separating slot antenna. Simulated in CST Microwave Studio and a proprietary FDTD simulator.
