Brad Barnes’s Summary

I started selling computers when they required raised floors and climate controlled rooms. While at Data General I was part of an experimental sales team that sold the first full screen portable computer called the DG-1. In the mid 80’s I went to work for Lotus Development Corporation and the spreadsheet 1-2-3. Lotus 1-2-3 was the largest selling PC software application at that time.

In 1990 I was part of the team that built Desktop Data, renamed to NewsEdge and we took it public in 1996 (NASDAQ: NEWZ). I played a number of roles on the sales side of the house. It was sold several years later to Thompson Financial where it still sits today. In 1997 was recruited by Brad Pantoskey to join the IT Staffing business located in Irvine, CA. In the late 90’s the Internet exploded and the demand for qualified IT personnel was growing at a very demanding rate. We took on several rounds of financing and grew to a 17 office, $60M business in 4 years. In 2001 when the dot com industry exploded and our business shrunk considerably I moved on to other non technology ventures.

After finding my way around the world for a couple of years, in 2002 I finally settled down and got enamored by a unique product that could prevent toxic mold from growing in homes. After raising several million dollars and 2 years, we built a 5 state, 12 city service organization to prevent the growth of mold. We helped minimize the risk that large home builders faced from the spread of mold. After a lot of hard work and great success, in April 2006 we took American MoldGuard public (NASDAQ: AMGI).

After getting into the magazine publishing business for a short stint I have found my way back into technology. trueAnthem is powered by a creative new advertising and viral marketing model that allows fans of rising and unsigned bands to download free digital music. Kids want music for free and we give them what they want.
