After being a member of UGA HEROs for 2.5 years, I was chosen to be the Public relations chairperson for the organization. I directed a committee of 30 students to promote the organization and its events and to recruit new members. I used my communication skills to ensure that the brand image of UGA HEROs with its values was consistent and perveated throughout UGA's campus. The year I served as PR chair, the organization increased its fundraising intake by $230,000 (over four times what was raised in 2006) and was awarded the Best Campus Organization by the University. As the PR chair, my committee updated the newsroom section of the Web site, promoted all events by distributing fliers and posters, used social networks to promote the organization and gained both broadcast and print media coverage.
