At the paper of Silicon Valley, Bonita oversaw the design of the paper's Business, Technology, Real Estate and Automotive sections. She was hired as a member of the small core team that redesigned the paper in an intense four months, an effort that earned multiple awards, including "World's Best Designed" distinction from SND. Bonita also won SND recognition for her individual page designs, including several gold medals. She also taught picture editing and design part-time at San Jose State University.
