I'm the author of the book "Two Laps Around the World: Tales and Insights from a Life Sabbatical." I also work as a travel writer and freelance journalist. I write a North American travel column for Examiner.com and publish a blog called "Travels in the Riel World."

In this position, I researched and wrote training manuals about the business cultures of more than 70 countries. These materials have been used in trainings with a broad range of international clients, including Dell, Sony, Coca-Cola, Reebok, L.L. Bean, Bechtel, LEGO, and Wal-Mart.
I also did some work as a trainer, conducting cross-cultural workshops for executives and their families who were being relocated overseas.
