I've been in the word business since 1987, when I started working as a freelance writer. Since then, I've freelanced, worked as a print and broadcast journalist, and moved to the 'dark side' of public relations.
In the fall of 2008, I left Thornley Fallis to return to educational PR as Director of Communications for Algonquin College in Ottawa.
In January of 2008, I moved from client-side to working for a public relations agency for the first time. Thornley Fallis Communications is a mid-size firm in Ottawa and Toronto, and they are big believers in using social media as well as traditional forms of communication to advance organizational goals.
Before Thornley Fallis, I spent seven or so years at the University of Ottawa and at the Canadian Council on Learning, focusing primarily on media relations for those organizations.
I was Canada's first PR blogger, starting my blog Flacklife (at http://www.flacklife.blogspot.com) in April 2003, and I've been the PR columnist for the national CBC Radio program "The Business Network." since 2000.
