I jumped at this amazing opportunity to build a online brand from the ground up. This company was created by the founders of National Guitar Workshop who train students at campuses in the US and Europe. WorkshopLive.com is the online extension of the school where they have created a patent-pending way to deliver music lessons from 50+ specialized teachers using online tools and a vast library of over 15,000 videos.
30,000 students have gone through the live program and already 10% of those have bought the online subscription as well so they're off to a great start!!
Working in the music industry is really thrilling. The exec team here has tight relationships with the C-level at Fender, Gibson, Yamaha, you name them. Equally thrilling is that the artists themselves have started working with us to create "master" classes including Joe Satriani, George Benson and a soon-to-be-announced mainstream performer. Good stuff!

I have found a wonderful opportunity to coach a large team of twenty-plus foreign nationals on everything I know about affiliate marketing. I was also curious to learn more about the "dark side" of the web - we promote gambling websites such as Everest Poker in every market with the exception of the U.S. (for legal reasons). So far, I've learned quite a bit from affiliate partners I had never heard of at CJ and CVS. The international experience is unmatched here as I'm traveling throughout Europe regularly and learning how business is transacted differently in each country. See you at the airport!

I chose this position and company because at CVS, the affiliate program was very problematic and we made the difficult decision to close the program. However, I was always fascinated with the audience reach and amazing speed of the affiliates. I joined CJ and became the strategic advisor for the affiliate programs (more broadly, "performance marketing" programs) for their major retailer clients such as Circuit City, Home Depot, and Staples. By the end of my tenure, I had established a reputation as being an expert on affiliate marketing for retailers (or knew just enough to be dangerous). :)

Executed multi-channel marketing for this giant retailer with primary responsibility for CVS.com. Enticed customers to shop online at CVS.com using a variety of creative techniques developed here and using 4,000 CVS stores as a marketing vehicle. This was a real highlight of my career to this point since most marketing managers don't get the opportunity to work with this large of a store base. I performed traditional online marketing manager duties involving customer acquisition/retention (PPC, SEO, Affiliate, Email, etc) but also had some great experience working with the CVS ExtraCare loyalty team and was the lead on some pioneering work involving the largest online photo property in existence, the CVS/Kodak Photo Center.

Managed the global corporate and internal marketing communications through three challenging company re-naming efforts. The core competency of this company was to code software 24-hours/day by networking developers in the U.S, Bangalor, India and Sri Lanka.

Project managed a series of website launches through increasingly complex versions. The greatest part of this job was working closely with Patricia Seybold's team (author of Customers.com). Had to leave Lids when they showed signs of going backrupt (which happened a few months later).

Worked with a great bunch of folks in the Photo Retail division. This group was empowered to dig into Commercial division resources to deliver product solutions for large retailers managed by the Consumer division. My best experience here was working with Wal-Mart. Left the company when they were delisted and laying off quite a few coworkers.

As a first job out of college, it was great to work for an agency which serviced clients in multiple industries. Being a tradeshow "booth builder", this agency had me on the road and learning the best techniques in this direct marketing artform.

I only include this experience since it was the foundation-setter for my career in and around technology. Here is where I learned how to dismantle and troubleshoot televisions and build circuit boards...and learn how to be creative.
