Bo Allen’s Summary

I've been working on the web since 2000.

It all started with an associate's degree in graphic design and multimedia from Westwood College in Denver. Not really "web developer" stuff there, but you'd be surprised what leads to what! I learned a lot about art, multimedia, and print design... but not so much about web design and development. We had a cheesy HTML class, but it got me interested.

The next thing you know, I'm up til 3 A.M. every night, making things in Flash, and learning web development on my own. The Photoshop training in school really helped boost me as a web designer.

You might notice a "break" in my employment history right after Peak Business Media. Well, my dad had a major stroke. I wanted to go to Arkansas (where my parents lived at the time) and spend time with him. It was awesome to freeload from my parents for a couple years. I didn't have a job, or go to school... but I spent 14-18 hours a day teaching myself how to build websites, fix computers, write code, play MMORPGs (ugh), etc.

Well, living in Arkansas... the ticks, chiggers, cottonmouths, tree scorpions, giant spiders, scary townsfolk, rabid possums, and down-wind chicken house smells eventually made me decide to leave.

When I got back to Denver, that's when I started working at Kinko's. I blanked out a large portion of that experience, so we'll just move on.

A year and a half later, my friend told me about a web design position open at the company he works for (Inquisicorp). I went to the interview, did a test (which was to skin Zen Cart), and got hired!

I've been doing great there ever since! I started as a web designer, and within two years got promoted to web developer. I love writing code :)

So there it is, the past ~10 years of my career. I love web development, and I continue to grow and become better each day.
