I love building excellent products and working with great people. I have a background in product marketing and product management. My passion is consumer product development.
Metrics are my best friends but sometimes intuition and experience is my greatest asset. I like to think strategically but act tactically, iteratively, quickly. I'm fascinated by media and technology, and I like to think about where we're headed.
I'm like to get my head around new concepts and find connections between seemingly disparate ideas and phenomena.
I look forward to doing something crazy like starting my own thing. In the meantime, I’m happiest as a leader on super-collaborative teams of smart people making stuff that touches people’s daily lives. I have a strong aversion to TPS reports, mild aversion to dark suits.
Social networks, e-commerce sites, operations (customer service, community management).
Product marketing: viral, email, SEM, online, offline. Product management: project management, roadmapping, spec development, iteration & optimization. SEO: page and site architecture and link building.
Trend-spotting, new consumer internet technologies. Team building, leading. Content development, editing. Solving problems.

I'm the lead for Flixster.com, the world's largest social network for moviegoers (45M registered users). We’re a small, agile company that does some pretty cool stuff with a tiny group of smart, motivated folks. I have a lot of fun going from high-level strategy and planning down to sleeves-rolled page mock ups. Data shows us the way, so after I start with my gut, talk to users, and collaborate with my awesome colleagues, we do tons of optimization iteration and testing.
Some things I’ve been heading up recently:
Bring people in - generate traffic
* Generate tons of long-term sustainable traffic through features to appeal to moviegoers, social networkers, and game players.
* Generate tons of traffic with viral features.
Bring people together - social graph building
* Design social features to introduce users to each other and get them to build real online connections.
* Use graph building technologies (Facebook Connect, MySpaceID, Rapleaf, Social Graph API, etc.) to increase users’ social graphs.
I hear this "Google" thing is big - SEO
* Build and optimize UGC-generating features (photos, videos, actor wikis).
* Make all content very indexable.
* Link building strategies (widgets, outreach to movie vertical influencers, publishing + Digg/Reddit/Stumble).
* Optimize anon experience for SE.
Make people happy and safe - community management
* Develop and oversee the maintenance of community-building programs (mostly for reactivation and content generation).
* Create policies that keep a large movie community happy with very low overhead (ToS, problem user remediation, COPPA)
* Kill spam in its many, many forms.
We love your inbox - email business
* Create, test, optimize, and productize content emails to our large opted-in userbase.
* Create and tune transactional emails.
