Software development manager with 17 years of experience as a programmer and manager. The first 10 years of my career I worked as a freelance contractor finding my own jobs via word of mouth, personal connections, retainers from existing clients, and using online tools. The next 5 years I spent writing code for companies and applying my years of experience writing contracts and architecting software. I naturally progressed in to leadership roles and in the last 2 years have been managing a large team of developers, as well leading the team towards a long term vision of how our software should operate and be designed.
My development experience primarily revolves around writing Perl for many different applications such as GIS, ad serving, administrative UIs, content management, e-mail farming, and data mining. I love to code. As a side affect I learn everything I can get my hands on including Apache, networking (iptables, etc), gnu/linux,. SQL, Ajax/DHTML, CPAN modules, etc, etc, etc.
As a technology manager I instinctively find ways to motivate the people that work for me and and use their strengths as effectively as I can. I enjoy mentoring people in how to better manage their time, communicate effectively with their peers, and give advice on writing easier to maintain and more robust code.
I'm a highly motivated go-getter with a positive attitude and a level head.

Conceptualized, architected, and implemented web sites for many different businesses both in the US and internationally. My selling points were being able to execute a project from start to finish, the software I developed had a very high level of quality, I was able to interface with my client's clients and sell them features that they didn't even know that they needed, and I was a one-man, one-stop shop, for getting any small or medium business in to the internet age.
