BIO: Blair Erickson is the Creative Director of an interactive agency named Millions of Us where he's created interactive experiences and live-action narratives for clients like Fox, Warner Bros, DreamWorks, and Playstation in virtual worlds and social communities. Most recently he finished writing and directing an alternate reality live-action thriller online for Fox's "Terminator" series, creating several 3-D virtual worlds for Sony's Playstation Home, and directing a comic live-action video experience for DreamWork's "Monsters vs. Aliens."
Previous projects included launching an Innovation Grant Program for virtual inventors sponsored by Electrolux, building a skyscraper experience inside Google's experimental virtual world "Lively," bringing CNN's I-Report program into Second Life, and creating several virtual world video game experiences for Nike. His first project at the company won the LACP Spotlight award for a first-of-its-kind campaign bringing a World Wrestling Entertainment invasion into the world Gaia Online.
Before his stint at Millions of Us, Blair worked in film and television production both for new and traditional media. He has created popular viral videos for YouTube on topics ranging from communism, the depiction of Los Angeles in cinema, and the recent film "Children of Men." He also worked writing and producing television episodes for the SciFi Channel, Discovery Channel, E! Entertainment Television, and the TV Guide Network. While studying Electronic Media at Carnegie Mellon University, he studied virtual worlds under Randy Pausch.

This reality series on E! pitted a group of young contestants against each other to vie for a million dollar Vegas contract courtesy of Wayne Newton. In my role as Associate Producer, our team was living in a Las Vegas hotel, creating crazy story and game segments for these up-and-coming entertainers to try and survive. A really wild ride.

Took on a role before the first season of the show aired, when it was still being conceived. A fun and offbeat premise (Roto-Rooter Plumbers investigate hauntings in their off hours), my role was helping the show execs develop stories around the northeast U.S. about hauntings and turn them into frightening episodes. Was thrilled to see the show become one of SciFi Channel's biggest hits (now on its 4th season).

Primarily my work at the TV Guide Network was writing and producing for a show called "What's On." The role was to develop segments and explored entertainment stories during the critical relaunching and rebranding of the cable network. It was a great behind the scenes journey in the film and television industry.

After the company I helped found, Bleeding Edge Interactive, was acquired we took on the new name "Elmer Interactive." Our software development company focused on a new business model developing games for branding and marketing, as well as releasing games for partners like Real Networks.

This Pittsburgh-based software start-up was a great experience for me as a creative director and as one of the four founding members. Our company developed small games and applications and worked with a team of about 10 of us creating cutting edge 3-D interactive experiences.
1996 — 2000
At Carnegie Mellon, myself and several of my close friends (who would later go on to become my co-workers almost a decade later) studied Building Virtual Worlds under the now well-known Randy Pausch. Though he's now famous for his celebrated speech and autobiographical bestseller "The Last Lecture" about his battle with cancer, he should also be remembered and cheered for his pioneering work in virtual reality and 3-D social experience research. I believe it's no coincidence that so many of my colleagues in that class went on to become leaders in our industry. It is my firm belief that they will carry on Randy's legacy.
