The purpose of Silid Aralan is to help street children with their educational needs. For this, Silid Aralan is applying a specific teaching and learning methodology that helps children catch up quickly. In addition it is a lot of fun for the children.
The mayor of a small suburb of Manila has provided for the use of Silid Aralan an entire floor of a building. This building has now been renovated with funds that were donated and the first batch of kids is showing some very promising signs of increased knowledge to the point where our 'facilitators' have been approached by real school teachers wanting to learn the methodology.
For now we are looking to expand our realm of supporters to allow our facilitators to go full time teaching our kids and also take on more kids from the streets.
