Partygaming Plc. is the market leader in the online gaming industry running successful online casino, poker and betting websites under the "Party" brand - partypoker, partycasino, partybets, partygammon and partybingo.
I started off as a software developer, but soon found myself in the role of its main IT operations person. As the company grew, my responsibilities too grew - from a small server room in a corner of the office, we built four custom-made datacentres in various colocation providers in Europe and Canada. I eventually became the person responsible for complete datacentre operations - the facility, liaising with the provider and NSP, hiring competent engineers, internal networking, server and appliance setup and configuration, rapid deployment, redundancy and high availability, monitoring, management and trending for capacity planning, disaster recovery and business continuity, backups, project planning - just about everything.

Retort Software was then a startup company offering IT consulting, services and products to Industries which wanted to use computer networking technologies and the Internet to improve efficiency, communications and reduce paperwork. Its clients list was almost a who's-who of the industrial belt in and around Bombay (now Mumbai) and Pune.
As with any other startup, I had multiple roles - I was among the software architects of the company, and was also in-charge of operations - visiting clients for pre-sales technology demonstrations, post-sales feedback and third-level escalation position.
