I'm an experienced journalist, family man and history buff looking to use my writing and editing skills for the betterment of humanity. I'm driven by a passion to write stories that will help security professionals do their jobs, and consider myself blessed to be doing this work.
Along the way, I've gotten to work with outstanding, gifted writers, editors and bloggers: Derek Slater, Anne Saita, Jim Malone, Rob Westervelt, Dennis Fisher, Mike Mimoso, Gretchen Putnam and Jack Daniel, to name a few.
When I'm not obsessing about the next story, I immerse myself in family: my wife, Erin, our boys, Sean and Duncan, our church community (born Jewish, became Catholic), and history. I love traveling to Washington DC and anywhere else with historical significance. I'm also interested in health and wellness matters, especially the fight against mental illness.
If you want to share ideas for security stories or get in touch for no particular reason, please do.

April 2008 — Present (1 year 8 months)
I've joined the team at CSO magazine and CSO online for a simple reason: The group churns out superb content that helps security professionals understand the risks and opportunities around them so they can do their jobs more effectively. I am thrilled to be here.

As senior news writer I focused on breaking news, in-depth analysis and multimedia projects for SearchSecurity.com and Information Security magazine. In this role, I wrote regular series and produced weekly podcasts dealing with cyber threats, be it terrorism or data thievery, computer vulnerabilities the bad guys are trying to exploit and technologies/policies the good guys use to fight back.
