October 1999 — July 2006 (6 years 10 months)
Senior Web Developer for PIPEX. Worked for the company when it was still small and based in Stevenage, by the time I left it was much bigger, having been sold to GX Networks, and buying other businesses including Host Europe and Nildram.
Responsibilities included PHP development and maintenance of the company websites, order processes etc. Much of the code was mission-critical stuff handling customer orders (including credit card details etc) so had to be secure, efficient and well-tested. Also performed sysadmin on the various web servers, and produced internal reporting systems.
