Linux Systems Administrator at Obsidian Consulting Group
Melbourne Area, Australia
I have been working as a Systems Administrator for some time now and have focused a fair bit on security.
Having done my post graduate studies in security i have also been continuously keeping myself updated with the latest security trends and been attending courses to keep myself updated.
I have completed my SANS Forensics training and Red Hat Server Security training and I am also a Red Hat Certified Engineer .
I am looking at making a move into Information Security as a dedicated security professional and i believe that my experience as a sys admin as well as my professional studies and training in security have helped me form a strong base for such a role.

My role at Junglehum India involved designing their systems infrastructure as well as setting it up along with detailed documentation and due focus on security.
The task was to build an infrastructure which initially was for a development team working on a prototype for a mobile application.
The challenge in doing this was a requirement to setup a complete Macintosh environment used in the offices to interface with a Linux setup as the backbone infrastructure.
There was a heavy emphasis on the backend being able to scale quickly to handle large volumes of data in the trial phase and a requirement to be able to reuse the infrastructure and the documentation and version controlling mechanisms in the production stage.

Having joined FlyBuys (Loyalty Pacific), the biggest loyalty program in Australia as Junior Systems Administrator I had plenty of opportunity to showcase my skills and interest in systems administration and information security. In a very short period of time i had taken over the management of the Internal helpdesk infrastructure for the company which was outsourced to an external provider and was actively helping with the maintenance of the Linux and Windows servers.
My natural interest in computers also saw me successfully take on the responsibility of managing the Macintosh environment used by the designers at work inspite of not having used them before.
Eventually i was promoted to a Senior role in the organisation where i was overseeing the complete Linux infrastructure that we were maintaining as well as actively trying to improve the setup that we had in place.
