Bruce Hoag (co-author of Managing Value-Based Organizations: It's Not What You Think, published by Edward Elgar Publishers, 2006) is an experienced management consultant whose principle desires include helping leaders and managers to become more effective as well as efficient; preparing students to become outstanding leaders and managers; and helping organizations and the people in them to understand how their roles are being redefined in the context of the changing workplace. He has worked with senior managers in organizational design and product development and has written a score of business and training plans for a number of small to medium sized businesses.
Bruce earned his Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from the Manchester Business School in the United Kingdom. He also has a Masters in Public Administration and a BSc in Business & Management.
He has been a guest lecturer at Cambridge University, the University of Manchester, the University of Westminster Business School, and the City University Business School, and has given numerous presentations to groups from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development throughout the United Kingdom. His presentation topics have included "The Horizontal Maze: Unraveling the Mysteries of the Flat Organization;" "Do We Need Performance Appraisals?" and "How to Keep Your Job in HR."
He is a member of the Academy of Management, where he has been a regular reviewer and participant, the British Academy of Management, and the British Psychological Society where he served on the Scientific Affairs sub-committee.
He has recently begun a monthly newsletter (http://www.p-advantage.com/Newsletter.html) entitled "Two Sides of the Same Coin" which examines common misunderstandings between managers and employees.
