Open List was founded in 2003 to help consumers make better decisions, by leveraging vertical search technology to deliver highly focused, relevant results in the categories of local service providers (restaurants, contractors, salons, etc.) and travel (hotels, attractions, destinations, etc.). The Open List experience focuses on discovery (helping consumers discover results they didn’t necessarily know existed), and content aggregation (helping consumers reach decisions based on all the relevant content mined from the Web). To support these goals, Open List leverages deep indexing and classification technology on the back end, with natural language query support and highly granular result refinement on the front end.
