I am an international security officer with broad military and civilian background with experience in Cote d’Ivoire, Darfur, Burundi, Rwanda, Haiti, Kenya, South Sudan, Uganda and Afghanistan. I am an expert planner and organizer who pays great attention to detail. I have experience dealing with critical military incidents, and critical incidents in conflict zones both in emergency environments and emerging/developing economies.

This position offered me opportunities to adapt my military security skills and my emergency planning experience to a humanitarian environment.In Darfur, Sudan I developed the security program and policies for the organization. Security assessments in CARE Cote d'Ivoire, Burundi, Haiti, Kenya and Uganda led to the development of overarching evacuation plans as well as recommendations for improvement of security systems. In Afghanistan, I conducted a comprehensive program review, threat assessment and implemented extensive security measures designed to reduce vulnerabilities. Consideration of the communications needs in all the environments I have assessed led me to develop the Minimum Operating Standards for Telecommunications for CARE USA offices.

Major projects included the development of a joint municipal emergency plan for three municipalities. I chaired the emergency planning committee, developed the core plan as well as annexes specific to the hazards for the region, including the telecommunications plan and the nuclear response annex. I developed and conducted a training course for emergency operations center personnel. I was also contracted to work for National Defence as part of the Defence Intelligence Review team. This team conducted the most sweeping review of the military intelligence function in Canada since 1948. My area of expertise was collection planning and management.
As the chair of the local Red Cross Disaster Services Committee, I developed and implemented the Personal Disaster Services Program. I was a member of the exercise design team for a major nuclear exercise and also represented Disaster Services on the Red Cross Ontario Zone Joint Disaster Services Working Group.

Starting with the company as editor of Poland AM, a daily newsletter aimed at senior corporate decision-makers, I quickly rose to a senior management position as the Regional Human Resources Manager.
