My strength is to be the bridge between customers / sales and delivery where I am responsible for making new products that are either customer business driven or operation driven. An example of the first is helping customers through the process of making agile websites, the second to optimize the service in quality (tooling) or reduction of costs needed in the delivery of our for high end e-business webhosting. I have for filled many roles within my employer from management to business development and high end consulting and currently act as an innovation manager for our media customers.
I have been presenting / speaking at Mediaplaza (multiple Drupal events and Open Source conferences), guest speaker at Haagsche Hoge School, JaarBeurs Utrecht (ICT en logistiek, Linux World Expo), T-Dose 2007, eduvision and many other conferences as well as numerous presentations for the board of prospects and customers of my employer.
Privately I am passionated about Drupal (an open source CMS) MythTV (an open source PVR), my girlfriend, daughter (http://brecht.boerland.com) and son (http://aart.boerland.com).

As a consultant I was hired to be responsible for the Mobile Solution offering of PinkRoccade, developing both the market, the products and the combination of these two. During this period I also was the project lead for migrating a large Unix farm to GNU/Linux (suse) virtual farm, gave consult the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment regarding online identity management and did various other consultancy projects.

As a student I wrote articles and stories for the Dutch paper bi-monthly "Amiga Magazine". This magazine was dedicated to the Commodore Amiga computer. The circulation was around 20.000-50.000 subscribers and it was distributed in the Netherlands and the Dutch speaking part of Belgium.
I talked to soft- and hardware vendors to get demo copies of their work, investigated their products and wrote stories about their products.
