After I finished my school in 1990 I had to go in the army where I trained to work in a field hospital. I started working with ITS in 1992 where I was responsible for the Packaging and Materials department. I completed several Management and Computer studies that time. ITS was taken over by Nichols Institute Diagnostics where I stayed for a short while. I decided to take the job at US Bioscience where I was hired to build a European Distribution Center. US Bioscience worked at clean room level.

While I was still in my probation time I received an offer of Amgen Europe B.V. I decided to take the job and moved to Amgen. At Amgen I had to build a European Package Development department from scratch, I went to the USA to study al the necessary software, hardware and infrastructure and to learn about the Package Development Department on the headquarters of Amgen. I took the knowledge with me to the Netherlands and build the department. During that time I did several different (Software, DTP en QA) courses and seminars all over Europe and USA.

In 1998 everything was ready so there was nothing left to do for me. I started Ber|Art Visual Design (www.ber-art.nl) and made designed and developed websites. Soon my customers wanted Hosting as well so I became a hosting reseller next to the design work. I hired a designer so I could learn a bit more about hosting, DNS etc. At this moment we host our own cabinets with collocated, dedicated and production servers. We manage everything ourselves, Switches Firewalls and Servers. We host >2000 domain names and we deliver and develop specialized application hosting like Typo3.

In 2004 I started and founded Stichting Hostmerk Nederland and (www.hostmerk.nl and www.hostethics.eu) together we build a foundation witch stands for quality. ISP’s can join our foundation by signing and compiling to the codes and regulations we made. This way we try to separate the serious business hoster from the “rest’

I am the owner and director of Ber|Art Visual Design. Ber|Art is an Internet Service Provider Web hosting and Web design company. Our core business is (shared) Linux Plesk webhosting, collocated and dedicated server hosting from our own secure and fire walled cabinets and network in the Netherlands.

We manage everything ourselves, Switches Firewalls and Servers. At this moment we are hosting more than 1500 domain names. (80% = dot NL)

Ber|Art has experience with application, CMS (Typo3), eCommerce (Magento) hosting and design; of cause we can do all domain name registrations and we can deliver professional Google website tuning and several web promotion services.

Amgen Europe B.V. package and distributes medicine to > 14 countries in Europe. In November 1996 I started as packaging development specialist and graphic designer with Amgen Europe B.V. After six weeks of training on the headquarters of Amgen Inc in Thousand Oaks, California (USA) I started in Breda.

I build a packaging development department, made and control the packaging of all medicine shipped from Breda. All the work I did was archived in SOP’s and was according to cGMP and FDA regulations. I worked with Macintosh, Plotters, PDF, Postscript, Adobe, Macromedia, CMYK separations etc.

I did not like the chemical side so I decided to go to Nijmegen to the Medical Laboratory School. The second year I had to choose between Cytohistology, Clinical Chemistry and Microbiology. I picked the last one and went to Eindhoven to study Medical and Technical Microbiology. In the last year I did take an extra specialty namely Immunology. So I graduate as Technical and Medical Microbiology and Immunology annalist.

During my education I was working 2 times 6 months to learn my profession in real life. I worked in the Technical Microbiology lab of a large meet (pig) company and I worked with a national state company on the Biochemistry lab to check for hormones in consumer meat. For both I wrote a paper on a special subject from that industry.
