Belmer is an IaD at San Francisco.
He is fascinated by design that is based on observing real user needs, design that is engaged with social causes and interfaces that have several optional levels of interaction, taking in consideration diversity of people. He has been passionately involved with his VJ work, a hobby since 2001, in São Paulo, Turin and Milan.
As an Interaction Designer for IDEO, he worked on a number of projects that are still highly confidential. At a high-level, his work there included development of new functionalities for a Microsoft desktop application; an R&D project for HP’s home products; and user-research for in-store experiences for Nike. At the design bureau MESO, Germany, he worked developing physical interfaces using sensors and graphical programming to control video-based content.
As digital designer, he designed video clips for Brazilian musicians and conceived multimedia installations. Worked as Art Director for DM9DDB and Ogilvy Interactive Brazil, handling clients such as Lucky Strike, Itaú Home Banking, AOL and Honda Motors.
Recently, his thesis project, Mobile Seed, was selected as Top Nominee for the Danish design award INDEX 2005, in the category Community (www.index2005.dk/topnominations). Other winners included LINUX, Toyota Prius and Skype.
In addition to having won awards as art director with web based advertising campaigns (at Cannes, One Show and FIAP), he has personal graphic design works published in books including:
- Dos Logos / Die-Gestalten 2004 (logos “bakedbits” e “mindness.net”)
- Mail Me! - A project about Mail / Fabrica 2004 (inclusion of the work “Peace Virus”)
- Illy Words Magazine / 2003 (cover of the edition “Passion”, as well as 3 internal pages)
