Unusual professional growth from blue-collar field technician to white-collar technologist, I have lost neither my roots in the field nor my respect for those who work there. My experience has developed into an expertise in interfacing with field workers, and I focus a lot of my efforts on designing tools (databases, spreadsheets, automated documents) with their needs in mind.
I was recently accepted into the Technical Communications and Rhetoric PhD program at Texas Tech University. I felt very honored when I was also offered a fellowship there but after a difficult period of reflection and calculation, opted to turn it down and pursue the online program instead. I am looking forward to working on research that involves enhancing the information exchange and technology transfer between educated white collar workers and experienced blue collar workers to the benefit of all.
