Born and raised in Invercargill and now living in Dunedin, I was educated at James Hargest High School, the Southland Polytechnic, the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand and the University of Otago. I am a carpenter by trade, a Facilities Manager by profession and a general manager by choice.
I have significant experience in managing assets within large and complex organizations. I have strong and well developed leadership skills and the ability to lead through sustained periods of change.
I have also conducted a number of organizational reviews particularly relating to Facilities Management.
I have held senior management positions within Education, Health Care, Eldercare, Prison and Construction industries. Whilst my experience has focused on the management, development and maintenance of physical assets and resources I bring with me a background which encompasses technical expertise and leadership skills with a strong interest and focus on customer service, quality assurance and strategic planning.

TEFMA represents facilities management in the Australasian tertiary education sector. Our members provide facilities management services to support excellence in teaching, research and community service. Our mission is to continuously improve and promote the quality of leadership and professionalism through education, collaboration and sharing of information.
I will serve as VP from October 2008 - Sept 2009, President Elect from Octber 2009 - Sept 2010 and the President from October 2010 - Sept 2011. In my role as VP I will be serve on the board Services Committee and be responsible for the Strategic Plan, Investments, the SAM (Strageic Asset Management) Publication and will act as the associations representative with strategic partners ATEM and HEFMA.

Over the last 5 years the Division has overseen an average annual capital expenditure programme of $21m.
