Software Engineer and Lecturer
Mauritius
I have been working in the IT sector for the past 10 years now. I worked for one year in one of the biggest consulting firms in Mauritius. Then I moved to MCCI to work as a Lecturer in Computer Science. There I discovered Linux and Open Source Software and it was love at fight sight. I quickly became the IT manager providing service to all academics and students.
Since 2005, I am a Lecturer at the University of Mauritius and I've also become the IT Manager of the Department of Computer Science. I teach Programming Languages, Parallel Processing and Software Architecture. I administer a number of Linux servers running Apache, Squid and PostgreSQL.
My goal is to join an innovative company and have the chance to work on products with high potential. I am particularly interested with Web 2.0 software applications. Ideally, this would also give me the opportunity to live in another country.

The core of my mission was to provide support for the Mauritian sugar industry (Weighbridge and M.I.S. Payroll systems). I was closely involved in bringing extensive amendments to existing Weighbridge systems to enable the transfer of sugar canes from Mon Loisir S.E. to F.U.E.L. S.E and also the setting up of a system to ensure the proper transfer of sensitive fixed assets information from the main branch of the Mauritius Commercial Bank to its Computer Division at Pailles.
