Adult Community Education 1983 — 1984
This was a small quaker-founded college without walls to which I was enrolled for a year. There was no coursework beyond a period of orientation and students were required to learn through internships. Through networking from New York City, I obtained my internship in a community-based learning center in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The center was founded in a housing project by Andrea Freud Lowenstein to promote literacy as a means of rising from poverty. I continued to work part time with the center for the next six years. My enrollment at FWC is not included on my official resume because when they merged into Long Island University my records were not retained.
